Before Corona, most people believed that they could achieve something through elections. People believed in parliaments and the parties would look after the well-being of the people.
People believed in the judiciary and trusted in its independence.
People believed in the incorruptible, factual work of the authorities. By committing fraud on a large scale, the RKI and PEI have generally undermined trust in the authorities.
Only a few people expect any advantage from the European institutions. A reflection on national values has begun
Trust in the press and television was already shaken before Corona, but is now completely gone.
The appeal to Western values can only cause scorn. Even Ukrainians don't understand that Ukrainian young men have to give up their lives for this, so hundreds of thousands have sought refuge in Western countries and Russia.
Belief in the good intentions of the official churches has rapidly dwindled. The affirmation of the state's repressive measures will not be forgotten in this generation.
Even trust in medical competence has been severely shaken
Can things be like they were before the Corona crisis again?
No, and that's a good thing:
Personal relationships between friends, between the sexes, between adults and children and between nations have acquired a new, more intense quality. The attempt to have a totalitarian influence and establish fascist rule has led to a stronger, more true unity of people. Many relationships that were founded on deceit and self-deception have collapsed. And the feeling that we are one world has penetrated into consciousness.
But this “we” feeling cannot suppress the awareness from above and below that we are a class society and that the idea of permeability between classes is a dream.
Digitalization has made it possible for people to communicate within seconds anywhere on earth. It enables computer-controlled machines and effective production anywhere in the world. The digitally supported mode of production cannot be monopolized. In this way, China and Russia were able to develop their productive forces in a very short time and break the American dominance that existed for a brief moment in history after the collapse of the Soviet Union and establish an equal competitive relationship. However, the result cannot be a multipolar world order, but rather the world begins to become bipolar. And both sides (“the West” and BRICS) are striving for world domination, so there is no end in sight to the rearmament and wars.
