Freedom for Puigdemont

Franco's sons have never distanced themselves from the atrocities committed by their fathers. The tortured and murdered victims are still buried nameless somewhere in Spain. Under the command of Goering, the German Air Force, with its fighter aircraft manufactured in the industrial combines of Volkswagen and Mercedes with the help of foreign workers, made possible the establishment of the fascist dictatorship. And today's German government welcomes the coercive measures against Catalonia and justifies the pillaging of Catalonia's riches in the guise of democracy by the deeply corrupt Madrid upper classes: ghost airports throughout Spain, EU-built motorways in deserted areas, ghost towns with high-rise complexes belonging to Spanish banks.

And the media are now pursuing the moral dismantling of the rebellion: the FAZ demands that Puigdemont should go to prison voluntarily to give the martyr. Otherwise he would be a coward. That could fit the scribblers in the warm editorial offices so.

  1. Sorry; but the history of Spain with its dictatorship under Franco and the german support of damaly does not have much to do with today's Spain as an EU member.
The government in Madrid is democratically elected. The Catalans have some autonomy according to the Spanish Constitution, such as their own language.
What a group called for Puigdemont, in my opinion, did not correspond to the will of the majority of the Catalans.
In many cases, examples from the Balkans were also mentioned (Croatia). This example is not valid. There was genocide and war. It was about human life!
That's not the case in Catalonia. The Catalans are fine; the economy is booming. An exit from the EU, which would be associated with a separation from Spain, would be catastrophic.
Why should the EU promote that?
Why should Germany promote this only because of its inglorious past?
    I do not see that!

    1. There are robber gangs who slip into the garb of a party or vice versa. Rajoy's people have put the taxes from Catalonia into their own private pockets, they have provided their clientele with construction contracts. Motorways were built around Madrid, which are not used. Airports were built on which a plane lands once a month, etc. Meanwhile, the infrastructure in Catalonia decays.
Germany's National Socialist dictatorship supported the fathers of these gangs with their military power and helped them to establish a fascist dictatorship. Now the German government is not entitled to unilaterally take sides in this internal Spanish conflict.
Anyone who understands democracy through education and self-determination demands freedom for Puigdemont.

  2. What has gone wrong in Spain since joining the EU due to planning mistakes and a waste of money can certainly be criticized. I agree with that.
Incidentally, this does not only apply to the region around Madrid. The same can be found throughout Spain.
Even in the environment of the royal house there were scandals in this regard.

Incidentally, Germany does not interfere. Germany stands by the EU member Spain and that is supposed to solve the internal conflict itself.
Puigdemont is an opaque figure to me. If he were honest, he would not have gone abroad and abandoned his rebels.

  3. Spain a constitutional state? This has the spokesman for the federal government today claimed. Great constitutional state, imprison the political opponents! Where is the difference to Erdogan? But if it serves the political line, it means that Erdogan in Syria (with the help of German tanks) introduces democracy and Putin is a flawless Democrat. And the gang around Netanyahu has the same goals as the federal government, as Maas said today! Anyone who gets excited about Trump and Kim in the face of this cynicism is a damned hypocrite.
If the media carrying such lies would turn red each time, we would not be able to see anything in the sea of red.
So, larger sections of the population, especially the younger ones, have turned to the so-called social media, but there they were and are still being brashly pulled over the table. At least the revolt of the American youth against the weapons lobby was still possible before the established media could win the rule of opinion.
In the political struggle, the respective ruling class always advances legal arguments.

  4. Puigdemont released from custody
Freedom for Puigdemont is a great success of liberal sense of justice.
Under Franco, the Catalans were harassed and tortured and in the consciousness of the Madrid upper class this looking down has been preserved: the Catalans should be diligent and pay taxes, but keep their wed. They are also treated with arrogance and their leaders are even imprisoned. The German judiciary could not afford to extradite Puigdemont to the corrupt Madrid clique without losing face.
However, they did not want to fully expose the supreme judge of Spain and are therefore now considering the allegation of embezzlement, which has been redrafted into the charge of corruption. The same judges, who have resisted every effort to investigate the serious corruption cases of the Rajoy party and to pronounce sentences, now depend on Puigdemont for embezzlement and corruption because, as Regional President, he has spent state resources to conduct the referendum. Lawyers can be very resourceful.
