Securing the rule and the hierarchical structure of society is the main task of the political class. That is why the SPD is terrified of suspicion that it has something to do with the lower class. No, as Schröder has shown, stepping down and hunching up, that guarantees participation in the rule. The image that the SPD has developed through the cooperation with Merkel does not want to jeopardize it.
