Merz has delivered

He has only fulfilled the first part of the industry bosses' expectations.

He has awarded gigantic arms contracts, wanting to have 6,500 tanks built. And the SPD doesn't want to be outdone, demanding the construction of barracks throughout the country. The army is to be increased to 400000 soldiers. But because hardly anyone sees the necessity for this, conscription is to be introduced only gradually.

The media are spouting nonsense about drones flying over German airports, making themselves look ridiculous, while Pistorius is having munitions factories built and is allowed to place trusted party loyalists in the Bundeswehr. The total cost of rearmament is expected to be €200 billion annually.

  • But how are these enormous sums to be raised?

The financial markets are demanding very high prices for loans. And they are calling for interventions in government spending:

  • They find healthcare costs too high. Spouses who were previously covered under their parents' insurance are expected to pay approximately €220 per month. They also want to accelerate the reduction of hospital beds and the closure of hospitals.
  • Many health insurance benefits are to be abolished, continued wage payments and sick pay are to be put up for discussion, while there are threats that otherwise surgical services for older people would have to be restricted.

Overall, additional revenue of 50 billion euros is expected. This could help to offset the costs of the tanks, the fighter jets ordered from the USA, and some barracks.

  • But how are the funds to maintain the largest standing army in Europe to be raised?
  • Where will the money for aid to Ukraine come from?
  • Who will raise the estimated 40 to 80 billion euros for integration costs?

States and municipalities are at their limit. They complain about the costs imposed on them. Increases in tax revenue are constantly predicted, but these expectations are regularly missed. Ms. Bas readily talks about raising the contribution assessment ceiling, as if that didn't happen every year.

The AfD is being pressured not to address the social cuts and continues to face threats of a ban. However, should it acknowledge the social cuts, it will be offered cooperation. It remains to be seen whether it will be content with closing the borders and dismantling the wind turbines, or whether it will also demand a halt to the social welfare cuts.

The most likely scenario is probably another trillion in debt to meet all expectations. The inflationary problems will then be glossed over by replacing politicians.

  1. “We have been living beyond our means for years,” says Chancellor Friedrich Merz in 2025. “We”? Who exactly does the Chancellor mean by “we”? “Millionaire preaches austerity,” headlines the newspaper junge Welt.

The richest 3.600 people in the EU own as much as the poorest 181 million people combined; this is roughly equivalent to the total population of Germany, Italy and Spain.
And ZDFheute reports: "The share of the citizen's income has fallen from 14 percent to ten percent in ten years, measured against the federal budget."

It's as if Bertolt Brecht wrote the following lines not in 1934, but only today:

"A rich man and a poor man stood there and looked at each other."
And the poor man said, pale: "If I weren't poor, you wouldn't be rich."

  2. Hayek:
Anyone who is blind to class antagonism develops a theory of equilibrium and ends up with Pinochet and Thatcher (violent suppression of uprisings). Even Keynes had a broader perspective.
Ludwig Erhard seized the opportunity and imposed no restrictions on societal forces. But who would want to subject Germany to the price of utter decline paid 80 years ago?
However, if the Merz clique retains the upper hand, this scenario cannot be completely ruled out.
The bourgeois theories of neoliberals and the Chicago School only capture partial aspects of society and cannot hold a candle to dialectical materialism applied to social analysis.

  3. "During the pandemic, we've seen countless examples of this Orwellian distortion of language. It started with 'flattening the curve' and went all the way to 'unvaccinated threats' and the 'pandemic of the unvaccinated.' Do you remember when children weren't allowed on playgrounds? When students had to take tests outside in the cold because they weren't wearing masks?"

What has happened to the media that they produce headlines like these, which contradict all science and are outright lies?

Helmar Schmundt wrote in Spiegel No. 21 in 2005 that there were no glaciers in the area of today's Tschierva Glacier in the Swiss Engadine at an altitude of 2200 meters a few thousand years ago. Therefore, he argued that climate change is a continuous process, completely independent of the alleged man-made "CO2 pollution."

In 2004, the British Guardian reported completely accurately on the US regime change activities in Ukraine, Serbia, Georgia or Moldova and listed all US organizations that financed and operated these activities on site.

Even for mainstream media outlets like The Guardian, it was clear in 2014 who was dragging whom into war. The Guardian headline read, "In Ukraine, US dragging us into a war with Russia." Today, the talk is of Russia's "unprovoked war of aggression."

  4. Jessica Tatti on Twitter on November 4, 2025:
"There is a shortage of almost 200.000 apartments in Baden-Württemberg. Families, students, and pensioners are desperately searching for affordable housing. The Green-Black coalition has completely failed in housing construction."
While municipalities are desperately searching for land for new housing, the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) are closing around 200 sites nationwide to civilian use – 26 of them in Baden-Württemberg alone, as reported by SWR. Areas where apartments, daycare centers, or social facilities could have been built long ago are now being used for military purposes. Instead of affordable housing, new barracks are being built. Instead of finally tackling the housing shortage decisively, the Green-Black state government is pushing ahead with militarization. A new law is intended to exempt the Bundeswehr from all state regulations when constructing barracks, command posts, and military depots. Permits? No longer required. Oversight? Non-existent. What utter madness!

"The Left Party was already written off before the federal election, but, supported by the mainstream media, dubious organizations like Campact, and the algorithms of American tech companies, it achieved a result of 8,8 percent within just a few weeks. In return, it eagerly helped to bring Friedrich Merz into office, voted in the Bundesrat for unlimited military spending, and is demanding even harsher sanctions against Russia. That the party has switched sides is particularly evident in its chairman, Jan van Aken, who, true to EU and NATO principles, is calling for the violent shutdown of Russia's shadow fleet, which would amount to a declaration of war against Russia in international waters and would certainly lead to a further increase in energy prices."

Following the departure of founders Bernd Lucke, Konrad Adam, and Hans-Olaf Henkel, Alexander Gauland, Björn Höcke, Alice Weidel, and Tino Chrupalla have dominated the debate within the AfD. However, Alice Weidel's statement, which went unchallenged by the party, "I can imagine us spending five percent of GDP on armaments," raises considerable doubts about the AfD's competence.

  6. "For over 20 years, the myth has been told that pensioners are living a comfortable life at the expense of their children and grandchildren and are partly responsible for economic stagnation with their sense of entitlement."

In this sense, the red-green coalition introduced the "sustainability factor" with its Agenda 2010, which bases pension amounts not only on contributions paid in, but also on demographic developments. The result was a growing number of pensioners, and especially female pensioners, who have to apply for housing benefits and other basic income support from the social welfare office because their pensions are insufficient even for the bare necessities.

There is no question that the statutory pension insurance (GRV), like the social security system as a whole, has major financial problems. But this crisis did not arise from an unsustainable pension level, but rather from the weakening of the financing basis of the GRV and social security as a whole, to the detriment of the lower and middle income groups.

  7. "They speak of both significant and long-term damage to children and document that these dangers have often been ignored and insufficiently or not at all recorded. In almost all cases, the administration of puberty blockers and later of counter-hormones to children leads to permanent infertility, their capacity for sexual experience is practically eliminated, there are risks to bone density development, and potential effects on intelligence. Negative consequences, obviously."

According to this study, mental illnesses are on the rise, as are cardiovascular diseases. In the case of surgery, complications occur in a significant number of cases.

The number of children who later regret their drastic decision is rarely recorded or even ignored in many studies. Health Secretary Robert Kennedy (who, to be fair, had previously been critical of these practices) was quoted in light of the study as saying: “The American Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics peddled the lie that chemical and surgical sex-rejecting procedures could be good for children. They betrayed their oath to first do no harm, and their so-called ‘gender-affirming care’ has inflicted lasting physical and psychological damage on vulnerable young people. That is not medicine—it’s malpractice.”

  8. "Puberty blockers are of course something like a holy grail for trans lobbyists, who derive satisfaction from subjecting children and adolescents to a treatment from which there is usually no return, because puberty blockers play the role of a gateway drug into the trans craze."

Very few of those whose bodies are damaged by puberty blockers stop taking them and try, as far as possible, to lead a life with normal development. Most begin lifelong cross-hormonal treatment, meaning they receive hormones for life that do not correspond to their biological sex, so that they can imagine themselves to be a different sex – whatever that may be.

And of course, it's no wonder that children who are told by adults that they have a problem with their gender, after typically having their puberty suppressed for two years, and then subjected to two further years of indoctrination by gender doctors who have a vested interest in masking the "side effects" of the treatment by replacing puberty blockers with other hormones to maintain the illusion of a different gender for life, don't complete the treatment but instead embark on the next stage of their own castration...

It is a thoroughly shady business, which is further complicated by the fact that the claimed reduction in suicide risk associated with puberty blockers, when one considers hard data, i.e., suicide attempts, both successful and failed, suggests that puberty blockers actually increase, rather than reduce, the likelihood of a suicide attempt.
